ASSESSMENT



Practical assignment:

In this practical assignment we have delved in how formative assessment could be applied in a real school. We have decided which areas should be assessed and which indicators will be used to apply this way of assessing. Furthermore, we have made a diagram with all the aspects that should be taken into account.

I used to think that teachers only examine their students by the level of content they have learnt and that is why I believed that the only way of doing it were exams. By doing this practical assignment, I have learnt that probably one of the best ways to know what our students have learnt is giving them the opportunity to show the contents that they are assimilating during all the educational process . Furthermore, that is why we thought formative assessment would be the best option.  Moreover, we have designed a way of evaluating our students where perception indicators will have a huge importance. While we were doing the practice, we have realized how important is to know what students and teachers think about the tasks they do and how their level of motivation will definitely influence the quality of education.


The most difficult thing for us was to adapt the measures that we wanted to implement to the current law because many aspects should be taken into account. After a while, we found what the LOMCE says about assessment and we have used it to develop our diagram.

We have made a big effort creating the diagram and this is the reason why I want to include it.




As I have said,  I think that the most important thing of assessment is to provide children with the best education, so as far as I am concerned, the  educative evaluation is an activity that should be integrated in the educational process. Its aims is to contribute in the improvement of the quality of the service that the schools gives. My opinion matches with Xu and Zhu (2011) that says that formative evaluation effectively monitors the implementation of every stage of learning and also cultivates students autonomy and control of their knowledge, rising the quality of the education they receive.
