EDUCATION SINCE THE ANCIENT REGIME UNTIL TODAY
Hello everyone,
I'm Ana and this is the first post of my portfolio.
In the first lesson of the subject we have learnt a lot about all the different laws that have been introduced in the Spanish system. Moreover, we have understood how education gets influenced by the period of the history in which it is set. We have all realized the influence that politicians have in education and how this can influenced the students.
In my case, in the first lesson I realized how many educational laws we have had since the Ancient Régime.
Origin: Jcope - NY.gov
I used to think that education hadn't been regulated until a few years ago. Moreover, I also used to think that teachers were paid well for their jobs. However, I have learnt many things that have impressed me, for example: the fact that there was a time in history where teachers were paid very little, so they couldn't make teaching as a living. Another important thing is that there have been many electoral laws that have changed the way of teaching. It is amazing the influence politics have on this issue because according to the political party that rules the country, education may vary.
For me, the characteristics of each electoral law are one of the most difficult things to learn because there are many laws and each one gives us new information.
I have been searching and I have found a video that explains clearly how is the educational system in Spain nowadays.
As you can see in this video our system is quite different from others. We are obliged to start school at the age of 6 but it's more often to start it when we are 3. Then we have 6 courses of Primary education and 4 of Secondary school. Then you can decide whether to go or not to bachillerato.
I have also found very interesting what De la Orden (1988) says about our current system and the quality of it. He explains that the notion of quality means that there must be a coherent relationship between each of the components of the system with each and all of the other components of the same system. On analysing this system of coherences, three facets of quality may be identified
